Xi-Lan is a disciplined land of ink-brush steel and shadowed honour, where dynastic tradition shapes every gesture and the blade settles disputes that law cannot. Mountain citadels, river-valley cities, and temple academies give the realm a quiet formality, while scholars and sword-masters alike devote their lives to precision, restraint, and duty. Art and warfare are treated as parallel practices—both requiring clarity of mind and balance of spirit. Xi-Lan feels poised and deliberate, a place where legacy guides the present and every action is meant to leave a clean, enduring line.

## The Veiled Iris Dynasty
3998th Cycle - 4700th Cycle
The Veiled Iris Dynasty unifies Xi-Lan or the first time in the historical record and rules for 702 years. The dynasty however eventually becomes opaque and stagnant. Its hidden knowledge becomes its downfall and it is suplanted by the reformist Ink-Reed Dynasty.
## The Ink-Reed Dynasty
4700th Cycle – 5500th Cycle
The Ink Reed establishes the classical dynastic period in Xi-Lan. This era is artistic, ordered, and introspective. The state unable to respond to instability, famine cycles, and external pressure from other continents. The Jade Ember seize power with the promise of strength.
## The Jade Ember Dynasty
5500th Cycle – 1278-09-11 (Serahic)
This dynasty spans both late Pre-Serahic and early/central Serahic periods and effectively rules Xi-Lan for over two thousand years. It is militant, unified, obsessed with honour and strength as the foundation of rule. The Jade Ember brings stability but also rigidity.
During [[80-05-01]] The Jade Ember Dynasty launches an invasion of [[Harrem]] which lasts for 100 years and ultimately ends in failure.
The Offworlders arrive on [[1110-03-02]] during Jade Ember rule. The dynasty survives the invasion but is profoundly weakened. Long decline after the Offworlders’ devastation, internal fragmentation, succession disputes, and erosion of trust in the Jade Ember code.
## Dynastic Collapse
1278-09-11
This marks the end of the Jade Ember and the beginning of Xi-Lan’s fractured political status.
