![[Image - Location - Grey Hall.png]] ## Overview Grey Hall holds its place among the four great cities of the western realm. These are: [[Darth]], the realms center of trade and commerce, [[Chiton]] built into the cold mountains of [[The Nordwall Mountains]], [[The husk of Falcon Thull]], the great burnt city and finally Grey Hall home to the magical universities of the Western Realm. The City of Grey Hall is situated on [[The Mirror Sea]] coast line off of [[The Wessmarch]]. The city is built at the intersection of two prime [[Ley Lines]] ([[The Mythic Line]] and [[The Kossvar Line]]) which grant it unusually high access to the network of arcane energy that flows through [[All Nimria]]. Due to its high potential for magical energy usage, Grey Hall is the site of many institutions of learning, especially those which focus on the arcane. It is home to the six great schools: [[The Academy of Burning Light]], [[Erulain Obscura]], [[Brackmere]], [[The Covenant of the Iridescent Veil]], and [[The Mythic]]. Situated on the side of the steep cliffs which plunge into the [[The Mirror Sea]], the city is known for its great antigravity hauls which lift vessels out of the ocean and into cliff docks. ## Social Structure #### Government Grey Hall is governed by the Magocratic Conclave, a magocracy ruled by the high chancellors of each of the six great schools, each holding a single seat on the conclave. Decisions are made through debate and vote. Ties or deadlocks are broken by [[The Seventh Seat]], an ancient artifact which is a keeper of neutrality. #### Military Grey Hall has a ranking of official city guards but law within each school is managed by that school entirely. Grey Hall has no standing army, but the archane power it wields stands as a deterrent to any challengers. #### The guilds There are no guilds run out of the city. Organizational structures are managed chiefly by the schools. #### Thievery Thievery is relatively nonexistent within the city. #### History The city is built at the intersection of two prime [[Ley Lines]] ([[The Mythic Line]] and [[The Kossvar Line]]) which grant it unusually high access to the network of arcane energy that flows through [[All Nimria]]. #### Population (Large City 19000) 51% [[Human]], 30% [[Gnome]], 12% [[Dwarf]], 7% [[Elf]]
