Though sightings are rare, its kind represent a vast and ancient power, unpredictable, but perhaps harnessable.* *This much we know: The relationship between the creature and us is a complex one. For much of its life cycle the creature remains parasitic to humanoids. It seems to ‘progenate’ through the oral transmission of spawnlings from one host to the next, although the details of this mechanism are unknown. Collected records and ancient shipping logs seem to suggest that the infected may remain calm and in control of their faculties for long periods of time, but other accounts suggest more rapid gestation.* *How these spawnlings eventually mature into immense creature described in the legends of sailors is also shrouded in mystery.
