[[Sichael]] is a nobleman unsatisfied with the ways of the courts and the limitations of his power. Through reading the stars, he discovers an impending cataclysmic event. This event is set to wreak devastation on the land. [[Sichael]] meets with [[Jonus]] and employs him to build a bastion ([[Sichael's Bastion]]) to protect a few select people from the invasion of the [[Offworlders]]s. The bastion has special chambers that house a few rich, important noblemen in a [[Cryosleep|suspeded state]] until the devastation passes. In addition, the bastion is maintained and even expanded by a set of machines called drones, designed to repair and build the structure. [[Jonus]] is also secretly researching the relationship between religion and magic. He discovers that the gods people worship are nothing more than highly complicated magic spells that usually feed off the devotion of their followers. In his research, [[Jonus]] is even able to recreate instances of some gods. During their meetings, [[Sichael]] devises a new religion—one in which he and his descendants might benefit. The cataclysmic event sweeping across the land provides the perfect opportunity to introduce this new religion. It is designed to be much less dependent on the power of a god and instead based more on rhetoric and propaganda, allowing it to spread much more easily. [[Jonus]] helps create the religion, from the artifacts to the god itself. As time goes on, [[Sichael]] becomes increasingly mistrustful of [[Jonus]], who is demanding more and more power in the ‘new world.’ [[Sichael]] decides to have [[Jonus]] assassinated.
